My leading subsea systems provider for the offshore oil and gas industry. They currently require an experienced Metallurgist to join their team on a new project.

The metallurgist will be responsible to develop and maintain the client's material specifications, materials related special procedure X-documents, and A-documents for coatings.

 

- Develops and maintains client material specifications to the latest Engineering and standard requirements.

- Develops and maintains X-documents for materials related special processes. This may also require testing to validate the process and setting up a qualification file.

- Develop and maintain A-documents for coatings.

- Analyse coating and materials related failures.

- Research and develop new materials and coatings.

- Provide laboratory services for evaluating materials and coating.

- Develop new vendors for materials and special processes. Perform technical audits of these vendors.

- Review and commenting on customer inquiries or RFQ's.

The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum degree level in Metallurgy/Metallurgical Engineering/Material Science with experience in a basic metal industry (steel mill, heat treat, foundry, or forge shop experience) and have some experience in the oil field. They must have the ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, industry standards, or governmental regulations along with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

The majority of this role will be based in outer West London but 20% of the role will involve travel to a variety of other locations.
