duties include but are not limited to:

·manage the department technical resources

·assist pipelay systems superintendent and project managers on technical issues

·ensure quality assurance procedures are followed in the department

·liaise with technical solutions to develop procedures and plans to implement new standards and rules regarding maintenance and certification regimes

•manage helpdesk issues

 

key activities

·manage the pipelay systems engineers pool, and the quality assurance and quality control resource

·define the graduate engineers scopes of work and career development

·assess placement students programs and scopes of work - mentor role

·develop the maintenance tasks from manufacturer manuals, failure mode effects & criticality analysis (fmeca) and lessons learnt, and implement in the planned maintenance system

·liaise with technical solutions to define certification programs for pipelay equipment, and implement in the planned maintenance system

·review and advise on structural non destructive testing (ndt) and painting programmes

·ensure the maintenance programs are consistent over the pipelay equipment pool

·ensure efficient maintenance and filing of all original equipment design calculations and drawings

·management of specific areas within projects related to equipment and structural upgrades, new builds and breakdowns when required by pipelay systems manager. this will include involvement in specification, design, construction, installation and commissioning

·ensure all projects within the department are following the proper quality assurance procedures

·review and advise equipment design modification requirements with regard to current classification, legislative and operational demands

·manage the team and the priorities such a way to:

oassist pipelay systems superintendents and project managers, and provide technical advice.oassist pipelay systems superintendents on breakdown / incidents repairs and develop solutions and support to minimise breakdown durationoliaise with asset delivery and projects to provide advice regarding pipelay equipment, capabilities and potential improvements•be single point of contact, coordinator and distributor of all project related queries on passed to the asset technical department. the majority of these projects will be actioned and closed out by the technical manager

 

person specification

qualifications

essential:

·bsc. or beng. degree mechanical / mechatronics

•knowledge of programmable logic controller (plc) and hydraulics

 

essential experience/skill/knowledge:

·> 10 years experience in the offshore / subsea industry, with relevant knowledge of equipment

·be familiar with an environment that encompasses and promotes quality health safety environment & security (qhse&s)

·be aware of system integration requirements (hydraulic and plc) with respect to structural interfaces

•understand and meet the needs of customers - internal and external as appropriate
