our client is a major international offshore oil & gas engineering contractor, requiring a senior structural or mechanical engineer to support global projects and group research & development. you will primarily be involved in equipment engineering support for the group's fleet of vessels and pipelay equipment, as well as miscellaneous structural & installation engineering support for global project teams.

the team's main design expertise includes mechanical design of installation equipment (for all types of structures as well as rigid, flexible and umbilical pipelay), engineering of flexible riser system structures, including bend stiffener connectors, mid-water arches, pliant wave clamps and anchoring systems, structural analysis of flexible storage reels and lifting engineering design & installation analysis for a variety of temporary & permanent structures.

as a key member of the team, using considerable technical and professional experience, you will be expected to deliver optimum solutions for both project support and r&d activities. working with engineers & draughtsmen within the installation, structural & equipment disciplines, specific tasks may include:

·all aspects of structural design work associated with a subsea installation contractor

·structural design of flexible ancillary equipment

·undertake installation engineering for subsea structures

·production of design reports for submission to clients & warranty surveyors as part of the design process

·developing team through coaching and generating ideas with the team manager and colleagues

·ensuring the quality of work issued is high and conforms to company division and group procedures

•consolidating group experience in discipline and promoting the group's engineering excellence through publications

qualifications:you should have a relevant engineering degree with a good knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards. previous experience and knowledge of abaqus or similar analysis packages would be an advantage. additional post-graduate qualification(s) in subsea engineering or naval architecture is advantageous.

candidates for this vacancy should have previous experience of working in the offshore oil & gas industry, preferably within the subsea sector.
