My Client, an International Subsea Oil and Gas contractor requires a Metallurgist/Materials Engineer/Corrosion Engineer in the UK for work on deep water off shore projects.

The metallurgist Develops and maintains the clients material specifications, materials related special procedure X-documents, and A-documents for coatings.

An exciting opportunity to join one of the leading subsea systems providers on an exciting new offshore project in Africa.

Our client is a leading subsea systems provider for the offshore oil and gas industry. They currently require a highly experienced Metallurgist to join their busy team on an exciting new project.The metallurgist Develops and maintains the clients material specifications, materials related special procedure X-documents, and A-documents for coatings. They will also interface with customers on all materials related issues.

The main duties of the Metallurgist will be as follows:

- Develops and maintains client material specifications to the latest Engineering and standard requirements.

- Develops and maintains X-documents for materials related special processes. This may also require testing to validate the process and setting up a qualification file.

- Develop and maintain A-documents for coatings.- Analyse coating and materials related failures.- Research and develop new materials and coatings.

- Provide laboratory services for evaluating materials and coating.- Develop new vendors for materials and special processes. Perform technical audits of these vendors.- Review and commenting on customer inquiries or RFQ's.

- Evaluate and recommend dispositions of non-conformances.

- Provide technical support to all client organizations (this includes CCV and CES), customers and vendors in the areas of material and trim selection, heat treating, material properties, specification interpretation, materials processing, welding, etc.

The successful candidate will be qualified to a minimum degree level in Metallurgy/Metallurgical Engineering/Material Science with experience in a basic metal industry (steel mill, heat treat, foundry, or forge shop experience) and have some experience in the oil field. They must have the ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, industry standards, or governmental regulations along with the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. University level algebra would be beneficial as well as the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. They must be flexible and be able to deal with inputs from many different sources and refocus thinking when priorities change.

The majority of this role will be based in outer West London but 20% of the role will involve travel to locations such as North England, Houston and Angola.
