Project Manager - BC Land Surveyor

a market leader in quality geomatics, engineering, and planning services, focus corporation is currently seeking a project manager/bc land surveyor to join our team in fort st. john.fort st. john, the "energetic city" is located in the heart of majestic peace river country. it is the largest regional service centre in northeastern bc with a thriving economy led by the oil and gas, agriculture and forestry industries. currently more than 18,000 people, mostly young families, live in the fort st john area. it boasts a safe, clean and nourishing community that gives back. for outdoor enthusiasts, fort st john offers many adventures within a short drive of the city. numerous lakes and rivers offer excellent fishing and river boating. campers can sample the many nearby provincial parks or try one of the hiking and walking trails in the area. responsibilities reporting to the regional vice president, you will:

· establish methods and procedures to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities

· work with the office manager to supervise, co-ordinate, schedule and review the activities of field staff, document clerks and cad technicians as assigned

· plan, direct and supervise or conduct surveys to establish parcels of lands, subdivision of lands for rural and urban development, utility rights-of-way, roadways and highways

· review all measurements and other information obtained during survey activities

· prepare or supervise the preparation and compilation of all data, plans, charts, records and documents related to surveys

· client liaison

· review procedures and standards of field work, documentation set up and cad work for efficiency and completeness

· liaise with field staff to ensure equipment needs and procedures are being followed

· actively participate in career development, including technical education and identifying training needs in staff

requirements as the successful candidate you:

· ideally have a bachelor's degree in surveying engineering or survey science or successful completion of equivalent examinations set by a regional board of examiners for land surveyors; however, those with relevant project management experience are encouraged to apply

· possess strong technical and supervisory skills

· have progressive experience and a comprehensive understanding of surveying

· have exceptional communication expertise that is complimented with a keen eye for detail and project management skills
